THE FINAL WORD: Originally set up at NBC, ABC jumped after the drama found itself on the scrap heap. Led by the under-rated Allison Tolman the series could prove to be a sleeper-hit - provided it can prove to audiences it really does have answers for all of its mysteries.

In this prequel to "Black-ish," Rainbow Johnson recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s and their constant pressure to change their true-selves to fit in with everyone else.

THE FINAL WORD: "Black-ish" has seemingly flown under the radar for years while carving out a fantastic niche for itself at ABC. This will be the show's second spin-off and its new take on a fish-out-of-water family will likely find similar success.

Based on the  graphic novel the series follows a sharp-witted army veteran turned PI with a complicated love life, gambling debt and a brother in her care.

Stumptown

THE FINAL WORD: This is a big-swing for ABC and its got the network's potent comedy block as a lead-in. It also has a recognizable cast but the question is will that help lure in audiences who may not be able to understand the concept is off the name alone.
